The 2017 Tony Awards will be held on June 11th at Radio City Musical Hall and will be hosted by Kevin Spacey. “Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812” came in with the most nominations, with the potential to pull a “Hamilton”-style Tony’s sweep of the awards. Other favorites include “Hello Dolly,” “Dear Evan Hansen,” and “A Doll’s House, Part 2.” Overall there were many surprising snubs, and 11 show received no nominations at all, including “Amelie,” “A Bronx Tale,” “Dangerous Liaisons,” “Sunset Boulevard,” “Cats,” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Other crowd favorites, “War Paint,” “Anastasia,” and “Bandstand” received very few nominations. The announcement of the nominations came with a lot of surprises, with many speculating that the Tonys will no longer nominate or reward a show just because it is beloved or has a famous actress.
